A Republican Senator from NY has nominated me for a "National Leadership Award"!

This has to be one of the strangest posts that I will ever blog.
And why is that may anyone ask??

Well I just got home after a long day of work and there is a message on my answering machine.
And honest to god this is all true so help me God.....

PS: The picture of the award is not mine...it is a representation of the award that I have just been honored with. Read on.....

The call goes like this:
"Ok this call is for John (insert my last name here). My name is Kathy Sore and I am with Congressmen Tom Reynolds with the National Republican Congressional committee in Washington. We would like to recongnise you with our "National Leadership Award" and I need to speak to you about a press release we want to send out to you. Again my name is Kathy Sore and my number is 1-866-338-8289. Please call me as soon as you get this message. Thank you."

WTF??? Ok so here I am supposedly being "honored" with a "National Leadership Award from a republican??
Well first off I am not republican by any meaning of the word unless you consider that I live in a republic.
Second....I tend to consider myself pretty liberal and though I may not be a registered member of the democratic party (or any party for that matter), I do lean more towards the Democrats causes and I really dig my hero Russ Feingold as well as Lady Hillary Clinton.

Third....I cant quite remember when I have done anything to merit a "National Leadership Award" unless someone counts my undying devotion to my job (which is one of the most important things in my life)....but I do not think that my job counts when your looking at what this phone call is apparently offering.

Fourth...maybe someone caught my antics at Battery Park this last November when I was in NYC?
I did cause quite a stir when I refused to take off my baseball cap or belt to get onto the boat to tour the statue of liberty. I chided the entire security force that was underneath the tent and said some pretty intense things about how New Yorkers need to learn how to treat their guests....and making them strip half naked is not a good way to do that. Nahh....

What else could this be all about??
So then I was beginning to think it was a joke that maybe one of my NEOCON friends at work may be playing on me, but even that is pretty far fetched and I don't think that their connections go as deep as a congressmen from NY.

Ok so time to google Congressmen Reynolds
http://www.house.gov/reynolds/
and nothing there that I could see except some basic info about him, some going-ons in his world and so it was on to the "Republican Congressional committee"
http://nrcc.org/
and a few tidbits of info but nothing that stood out, except on the far right side, a button to click to RSVP for a "Presidential Dinner" on June 19th (see picture at the top of this post), which I so wanted to click just to see where that would take me (but I didn't) and then I decided to google this "National Leadership Award" that I had been given.

From just this one site I found out pretty much everything I wanted to know.

And this site has numerous messages posted from other souls, who like me, have been nominated for this "prestigious" award....ha ha.

I am so tempted to call this lady on tuesday and see how far I can go, just as the guy who wrote about his experience in the above linked post did.
I can not believe that the Republican party will stoop so low to get campaign cash and I am finding this whole thing so laughable that I am emailing all of my email contacts to let them know of what just happened to me.

And what is also very strange is the fact, that like the guy's post above, my phone number is also unlisted and I do not put it out there anywhere for people to grab. How in the heck did these republicans get a hold of my number????

Well at least the mystery is solved but as I am writing this I keep going back to the answering machine and replay that message.
For anyone who wants to listen to it themselves, you are more than welcome to. Just call Kathy Sore at 1-866-338-8289 and tell her you are a friend of the "latest National Leadership Award Winner". Maybe she will give you my number.
I will be waiting to hear from you....

And the more I think about it the more I really want to call that number. I could really use a picture of Georgie. I can then matt it in a very pretty frame and give it to my boss for his birthday!!! But don't tell him...I want it to be a surprise.
And maybe there is the possibility that I would get invited to that annual dinner with King George in June.
Hey I just realized that I am on vacation during that time and I have wanted to take a little trip back to Washington for a while now to dig into some of the more sinister "Masonry" side of ancient Washington. Hmm.....

A good day to all.
Time to sleep as it is already 5:30AM and I have been up all night.
But I have to close with "What a way to end my day. Being a recipient of such an honor".

How much lower will the republican party go until they "bury themselves"? My answer is probably pretty darn soon if they keep this shit up.

  1. I just received a call from Linda Hostetler. she wants to give my husband the same "prestigious award". My husband, the one who always asks me, "which ones are the Republicans again?" Then I thought it was for the Manager of the Month award he got at RadioShack three years ago...no that can't be it...let's google and find out...aha! A scam! I thought so! For shame, GOP!! i thought having the Christian Coalition hooking up the party of Lincoln was bad, and that Schiavo emergency session grandstanding load of barfaroni, but this is really bad. This pro-choice republican is very disappointed.

  2. That number forwards to a "Bussiness Consulting Firm" but I am unsure of where it is. They have been pestering me for some time and have became quiet annoying.

  3. Dubya wants to give me a "National Leadership Award" ! Me a lowly graphic designer!
My guess is he wants to recognize Me for not voting for him either time and disagreeing with everything the idiot does. WOW! That makes me RIGHT.
From what I've read on the blogs, it's a scam. Send this amount and we'll promptly send you your "National Leadership Award" and press release (theoretically so I can impress my friends and dog). Imagine that, our own government trying to scam it's people! Shocking!

This message was left on my machine this morning:
"Hello Mr. (_) my name is Chelsea Dornsley and I am with Congressmen Tom Reynolds with the National Republican Congressional committee in Washington, DC. We would like to recognize you with our "National Leadership Award" and I need to speak to you about a press release we want to send out to you. Again my name is Chelsea Dornsley and my number is 1-866-338-8289. Please call me as soon as you get this message. Thank you."

  4. Rec'd same message from Tom Reynolds office about the 'Leadership Award.' I smelled a rat and googled the phone number. I decided to have some fun with the repub committee folks and returned the call.

I told them I could only accept the award if they were to give me a $500 cash award for my 'expertise and insight.' The telemarketer got flummoxed and requested a lower donation amount. I suggested that maybe they would be willing to give me $200-300. This really got the gal on the phone twisted. The call ended amicably with my comment that it rubbed me wrong to have to pay for access to elected officials.

  5. I just got the call too. I am on the don't call list. Can we all get together and take legal action against them for violating the law here?

  6. I just received this call to be "honored" myself. I wonder how many of these awards they give out? Maybe we should march on washington and all get our awards at the same time. Oh well, I am much much to busy doing all the great things I was to be honored for to take the time out of my busy schedule. I guess they will just have to give it to someone else. Glad I researched before calling. Does the Republican party actually partake of such lowdown schemes to get money?

  7. I received the call yesterday from Doris Davidson from Congressman Reynolds office. The funny part of my call is that I am a democratic leader in my county and an elected official. I had little respect for the Republicans to start with and that just dropped to zero. I am going to call them back graciously tell them what they can do with the award
