Imagine having 21 children and probably many more who call you "Mother"....
That is Louise Hunter. She is 71 years young and is the founder and driving force behind "The Love and Charity Mission", a shelter for the homesless here in Racine, the city I call home.
Her children decided to honor their mom this Mother's Day with a family portrait. Not all of her 21 could be there but a good many of them (14) did make it....to give their mother a gift like no other.
I have heard of this woman a few times over the past few years. I can not say for sure if I have ever met her but when and if I ever do, I will be sure to thank her for her love, courage, tenacity, and overall strength that she has given to the unfortunate of Racine all these years.
An interesting article from 2005 that gives a little more background on Mrs. Hunter:

And also an article from our own home town rag that sheds light on how some people in our fair city on the Great Lake do not really seem to care about all the good this woman has done for the destitute of our community through the years:

And read on for an article from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Online that tells of this remarkable woman....

I also wish her a very happy and joyus Mother's Day this coming sunday.
