Feingold in the News again...and my take on the Bird Flu Movie

This time Russ is again telling those who will listen that "Democrats" must do more to lead and that we must work to get the administration to pull out the "Primary Troops" from Iraq by the end of the year.

He also talks about the ever rampant speculation of his possible run for the presidency in 08 and from what I hear him saying, it sounds like his "hat" being thrown in to the ring is becoming ever more possible.

I applaud this man in everything he says and I feel that he is one of our best hopes for a future that can be a hopeful and better one than the present we are now living through.

And how about that ABC Bird Flu movie that was premiered on Tuesday evening?
I just finished watching it last night.

I started watching it on Tuesday after work and so much of it was initially very disturbing that I had to turn it off. I then finished watching it last night.

It was pretty sobering to say the least. And even though a lot of what the movie potrayed was "Hollywood Hype", there were quite a few "points" that this picture made about the possibility of the Avian Flu hitting our shores and what the results could be if we are not prepared.

I think the biggest impact that this movie brought forward was the fact that due to quite a few people becoming ill that our economy could go into a potential "tailspin"of sorts.
The "supply chain" of goods being disrupted was one thing that really scared me.
Grocery stores out of food and people getting to such a level of ugliness in order to be able to sustain themselves......I think that was a realistic scenario and a very scary one at that.

There were some other good points that the movie made and I must applaud our local news outlets here in SE Wisconsin for trying to separate "Fiction from Fact" after the movie that evening.

Rest assured, a pandemic is coming and it will probably be a variation of what the movie potrayed....or it could be some other pathogenic bug or virus.
But it behooves us to do things to be ready and to come up with some contingency plans sooner than later.

Food for at least a month, and other supplies in our homes (batteries, water, candles, cold hard cash) because the one thing that will happen if an outbreak occurs is that people will probably not want to be close to one another for a while.

I have started stockpiling items for myself so hopefully even if I do get sick, I will at least have things in my home to help me through this scary time that will surly eventually be a part of our very near future....esp. if the virus that is out there right now mutates and starts spreading from human to human.

Lets hope that we can come up with a vaccine soon that will work 100% in protecting our populations. Otherwise I fear (as the movie trys to protray) there will be a huge loss of life throughout the world.

A good Thursday to all.
