A push by ICANN (the orginization that is responsible for assigning domain names to the internet-such as .com,.gov,.org ect) to give a huge domain to a huge online presence has decided not to move ahead with it's plan to give porn sites their own "triple-X" domain name.
They felt it would clean up the web a bit and help keep kiddies from accessing these nasty sites.
But in the end, it comes down to more debates on free speech and other country's rights to use the .com and other domain names. So for now, everyone needs to remain cautous and hope (if they are not looking in the first place) that they do not accidently stumble upon some unsavory site by accident when browsing all that the web has to offer...

On another note though (and I find this very cool) there will soon be another new domain for people to use. This being the "dot tel" domain name.
What will this new domain be used for?
People trying to keep their personal sites such as my space sites and other sites of a personal nature where one can include their email addresses and phone numbers and other personal info...sort of like an online telephone number on the web...
This new domain could be up and running sometime this year yet, according to the article above.
I will surly be one of the first to grab one of these domains with my name.
More info on this upcoming domain can be found by googling the phrase "tel domain" or if some do not feel like "googling" , I have included a few links.
