Tech: Vista Beta Available Now!

Ready-Set-Go!!!!!

I decided to go the easy way and ordered the DVD of the newest upcoming Windows Operating System (which is still in Beta) but is available as of yesterday for people to "play" with.

Microsoft released the beta through what is called "Windows Vista Customer Preview Program" yesterday. You can either download the entire OS on to your hard drive or you can order the CD (which is actually a DVD) through Microsoft.

I decided on the latter. The software on the DVD costes $6.00 plus $4.00 for shipping and it will arrive in the mail approx. one to two weeks from now. (I may even download it but I would probably need a DVD Burner to "burn the image" to a disc in order to use it.

I may even try to download it but then I will need to invest in a DVD burner (which I have been thinking of doing for a while now anyway). If one wants to go that way, the following page has links to start the download process as well as links to order the DVD which I did already.

The nice thing about this beta release of Vista is that you can use it until August of 2007 so in a way it is an OS that is good for over a year. (And who knows how long it will really be before Vista is really going to be ready to be finalized and ready for purchase. MS is saying Jan. 2007 for the public but other sources are saying that this date could slip).

A little more background from PC Magazine on this new "trial-beta" software of Microsoft's next big toy:

Hope everyone has the ability to have a wonderful "Vista" on their desktops very soon.......
