It started around noon on Thursday according to the "Racine Journal Times" newspaper....
Link to the Journal Times Story:http://www.journaltimes.com/nucleus/index.php?itemid=3906
.... Wife comes home for lunch, she is taken hostage by two "soon to be bank robbers", her son comes home from school later in the afternoon and is told from outside by his mother (who is inside the home with a gun pointed to her head) not to come in as she has "The Flu".
Then this woman's "father in law" stops by the house (he has a key but for some reason its not working) and no one answers, he peers through the windows and doesnt see anything and leaves.
Move forward to 530pm and the husband comes home from his day at "The Bank of Elmwood" where he works....
He comes into the house and is bound and taken hostage in his own home along with his wife who has now endured being held hostage since noon.
This goes on through the evening, with phone calls from the parents, the couple refusing offers of dinner with them, as the wife is "ill with the flu".....
..... and then sometime around 3AM on Friday morning, the kidnappers take the husband to the bank where he is employed to get money from a safe. They "bind" him there, take off in his car, the car is found by the police just a block or so away, the wife at the same time unbinds herself, walks over to this neighbor's house clutching a knife and calls 911 to report the above ordeal...or parts of it at least and then collapses in neighbor's daugter's arms.
I dont know about anyone else but if this all happened the way it played out....my god.....these two folks have to be traumatized for life. And if so, my prayers and thoughts are with them....
.....But something just does not "smell right" to me with the whole scenario. (A few others that have posted comments on the "Journal Times story site" that I linked to above are thinking some of the same thoughts).
It kind of sounds like an "inside job".
And by that I mean something worthy of some pretty smart and caculating people. Maybe other employees of the bank where husband works or.......you can fill in the blanks.
There just seem to be alot of "holes" in this story and I am not even a detective...though I am pretty good at conspiracy theories. Why didn't the "kidnappers-robbers" kill these two after all of this.
Surly they (the kidnapper-robber combo) must realise that if they are ever caught, this couple will identify them and all of these crimes (home invasion, kidnapping, bank robbery) will positively lead to life imprisonment. And to bind wifey so loosely that she could untie or unbind herself.....I just gotta say it all sounds a bit crazy.
Some things just do not add up. Twenty or even ten years ago, most of these things would have gone unnoticed, but today with CSI and all the other law and order type shows and just alone all the "facts" that have been brought to light from that afternoon into the next morning make me think that if not a total "inside" job...at least help from somewhere within the friends or families of some of the bank employees...
I don't personally know these people but I like I said, if all of this truly played out the way the news strories are saying then I feel very sorry for them.
If, on the other hand, something more sinister happened...then I hope the authorities uncover it quickly before someone flys off to South America weather it be a man in a dress and his black buddy or another associate of said bank or some other whacko who thinks they can get away with this stuff. But being in Racine, that is exactly what will probably happen. No one will get caught and if eventually they do, they will probably get probation or a suspended sentence...
A side note: Another of the neighbors was supossedly intimately involved, according to his blog post which I have posted a bit of below as well as a link to the rest of his post........

My Neighbors Were Held Hostage by Bank Robbers
This is not a joke. There is a nice couple that lives two doors down from my house in Racine, WI. Michael is an employee at the Bank of Elmwood. Yesterday two armed men forced their way into Michael and Jessica's house and held them hostage. Then very early this morning they took Michael to the bank and forced him to give them money. At about 4am Jessica got free from her restraints and came to my house for help. When my daughter answered the door (I spent the night at my girlfriend's house last night) Jessica was standing there barefoot and clutching a knife. She was obviously afraid for her life. Jessica was shaking and hyperventilating and frantic about her husband. After she used our phone to call 911 she broke down crying while my daughter held her until the police arrived. Thankfully Michael and Jessica were not physically harmed. The bank robbers released Michael after they got the money they were after. As of this writing the bank robbers are still at large.

I hate to offend those who know the victims and I have NO first hand knowledge of this event; but this has all the telltale signs of an inside job. I could be wrong but it seems like a highly advanced crime if done by an outsider - the time and effort and research needed. Also, law enforcement people will tell you that most of these types of robberies, burglaries, and thefts involve "insiders". Just a thought. Hope the police are thorough and open-minded in the investigation.

Well - I DO have some first hand knowledge of this case and let me tell you: there are GLARING inconsistencies in the stories here and there will be a huge "change" in the focus in the investigation as early as Monday. Mark my word.
