A Surprise at Work

So it seems the stars (at least on Thursday last) were looking down on me with favor.

We had our annual "Holiday Party" at work (The Racine Marriott Hotel) that evening and as they were announcing different awards and stuff...they came to the "Manager of the Year Award" and lo and behold-who's name was heard??? I have to say I was completely dumbfounded and did not expect it. But it was such an honor.

And I have to say I am so proud to work at this hotel. In my 20+years in this business (Food and beverage), I cant say that I have ever worked for a better company or a better team of people.

Now I just have to figure out a way for everyone to stop saying "Hello John...or is it Mr. Manager of the Year"........arrrrg.

Where does one go from there??? Manager of the decade?? Oh shit...I have hit the top of my career here! I hope that's not the kiss of death!!! Na...I have soo much to learn and so many opportunities even within this hotel. It is like a miniature city and so far I only really know how to run a part of it. I wouldn't know where to begin to check a guest into a room or how to shut off a leaking faucet in a guest room.

I just hope that I am lucky enough to be employed at this hotel come 10 years. I just passed year number six (6).....only four (4) more to go for that.

Happy Saturday
