The Family Tree search...Again

I have decided to reinvigorate my search for my family's history. I know a little but I want to know more. I feel that if one knows who there ancestors were, they can have a better sense of their own identity. So if anyone wants to help me in this long and arduous task...I will take all the help I can get.

Email me at jrepinski@wi.rr.com

I did find some interesting information while crawling the internet the last few days. My mother's maiden name is Dietz and that name goes back into antiquity in Europe and is even connected to the Royal Houses of Europe. So there may be some royal blood in my family line....In fact, as I was digging back along a certian line, it took me all the way to Charlamagne, a king and Holy Roman Emperor. Kind of cool. Alot of missing links in between though.

I also managed to find a "Coat of Arms" from that side of my family and some other interesting links from a site called Ancestory.com. Doing a bunch of Google searches also brought fourth quite a bit of interesting info. Unfort. I have not been able to find out much about my Repinski side of the family, other than the meaning of the name and where it supossedly originated from. This interesting info I got from one of those sites:

Name History and Origin for Repinski

Last Name: Repinski

Polish: probably a variant of Rzepinski, habitational name for someone from a place called Rzepin in Kielce voivodeship.

And:

Name History and Origin for Dietz

Last Name: Dietz

Dietz

German: from a short form of the personal name Dietrich.

And going to that name:

Dietrich

German: from the Germanic personal name Tederich (Theudoricus), composed of the elements theud ‘people’, ‘race’ + ric ‘power(ful)’, ‘rich’. This surname is common throughout central and eastern Europe, particularly in the western Slavic countries. The forename occurs in a wide variety of local forms, especially in northern Germany. It is cognate with Dutch Diederik (see Dederick).

And going to that name:

Dederick

Dutch: variant of Diederik, from a Germanic personal name composed of the elements theud ‘people’, ‘race’ + ric ‘power(ful)’, ‘rich’; cognate with High German Dietrich.

I know there are a few other names that connect to my lineage but I have to ask my dad and maybe some of my other family members for correct spellings ect..so I can find out more.

I know there are the names Dulac, Pope,Kosmeiter and a few others along my lines and more. This project will surly take alot of time but in the end I feel it will be worth so much...at least to me.

Happy Monday.....
