The conductor was telling us, as we passed this point, that there was a horrific forest fire back in the middle 90s that wiped out an entire mountianside along the banks of this part of the river...some of the burnt trees can still be seen from the train as it passed through this part of the Rocky mountians....(sat afternoon)
