My My...All those Florida Hurricanes...My Poor Cousins!

I am sure at this point (unless you have been living under a rock....which I know some people are), that everyone has been keeping an eye on all the hurricanes that have been hitting the Florida coast these last two months of summer. That whole state has been getting pounded left and right and now another one (Ivan) is on the way but thankfully heading more north and west then the past two.

I have extended family that lives in Florida and have been concerned about them with all of this going on. I received an email from my cousin Danielle today and it must pretty much sum up what all the other people down in that area are going through:

Hey, John-Just running around before work and I know that thebaby will wake up any second (!!),,,so this will bebrief (short but sweet!)...yes, Hurrican Ivan washeading directly for us...so last weekend we were allanxious and scurrying around being sure we wereprepared. We (Marco and I) were actually consideringdriving north if it stayed the course, w/ the baby andall...but boarded up the house, bought supplies andtook a wait and see attitude w/ the rest of our familyand now it's going elsewhere, thankfully (sad forothers though). This area, esp north and south of us,has been hit so hard this year, you begin to wonderwhy you live here!! The air has been very tense, andnow it's funny--so many people, including us, caughtcolds/flu---I bet it's totally stress related!

Well...thankgoodness they are all ok.

Not much going on around here in Wisconsin, though we are getting some summer weather (finally) with sunshine and warmer temperatures. This has to be one of the strangest summers I recall. The last 3 months (except for the past two weeks) have felt like an extended spring. Global warming?? Who knows. It is just all very strange.

Time to go do something and make the most of the rest of my day off.
