Déjà vu: Where fact meets fantasy
I seem to experience this phenomenom quite often. It started when I was about 12 years old I recall.
I was walking home from school with a friend and I mentioned that the way we were walking seemed very familiar and I noted to him that in a few seconds I felt so sure that I had been on this exact path before that one of our teachers would be driving by us in just a few seconds...and "boom"....she did indeed come around the corner about 5 seconds later.
That was freaky....esp. for two 12 year old boys. This feeling of familiarity has happened many times since.
Following is a story that talks about this sensation and what may be behind it....

A.I.G. (Aint I Greedy??) Executives Getting their Due

That is my new name for this corporation (Web site: http://www.aigcorporate.com/corpsite/)
and for their executives.
I have said this before and I will say it again. All these companies (and thus people) taking advantage of this bailout while continuing to take "over the top bonuses", still being overpaid, still flying corporate jets, and I am sure most still driving their BMW's and Mercedees Benz Automobiles.....
Well today, the public has spoke and hopefully has been heard when Congress decided to tax what ends up being (with state and local taxes included) the entire amount of the bonuses that the AIG Executives and other employees were given "under contract".
Contract-Shontract.....I do not care what they were promised (and neither do most of the other americans who expressed outrage) and I am glad that our representitives that we sent to Washington (most at least) agree and acted upon this matter.
I have hope again that maybe we can clean up this mess that we are in, mainly because of companies like AIG and others like it (pretty much the whole financial industry).
WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS KIND OF CRAP! BE WARNED!!!
And if you feel like voicing your opinion to the AIG folks themselves, here is a name and an address to do so:
Joe Norton Director,
Public Relations
American International Group, Inc. (AIG)70 Pine StreetNew York, NY 10270

Edward Liddy....the new face of corporate Greed?
In the future when someone is accused of being greedy and spending money that is not theirs to spend, I have a feeling they will be called a "Liddy".
This man is obcene and I hope the government does something to make this guy accountable for not only giving some of our bailout money to employees as bonus payments but also to foriegn companies that should not have gotten part of our taxpayer earnings....

U.S. Senator Calls for AIG Execs to Comit Suicide
I applaud this man. This seems like the right thing to do. If these buffoons can not take personal responsibility for all the troubles that they have wrought then maybe they SHOULD end their lives. This company is an embarassment to all companies small and large. These executives are not even worthy of being called human beings. They are what to me is the bottom of the barrel. Pure toxic sludge!

Obama Orders Treasury Chief to Try to Block A.I.G. Bonuses
I say...
If the current administration can not get those bonuses stopped from being payed out that I will loose any condidence that I still have for our new government.
This has to be the most rediculous and ludicrous story that has come out of this whole economic mess that we are currently in.
And then we all wonder why we are in such a pickle. It is partly because of crap like this being allowed to happen within the frame work of the current economic crisis.

Hyatt's Polaris restaurant to turn its last revolution in April

This was the 1st restaurant I went to as and adult when I came to Milwaukee for Summerfest back in the early eighties.
Anyone remember "Pieces of 8"?? That was another favorite that is now something else but in the same place along the lake.
Memories......
The article as posted online today that talks about the final days of this landmark restaurant:
By Carol Deptolla of the Journal Sentinal
Polaris, the revolving rooftop restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, will close after serving Easter brunch on April 12.
The 20th-floor restaurant will be used for private functions, said Gerald Rappaport, general manager of the downtown Hyatt.
As part of a $19 million renovation project at the hotel, a new restaurant, Bistro 333, will open in May on the lobby level, in the Knuckles Sports Bar space.
Polaris, which opened in 1981, offers diners a 360-degree view of the city. It takes around an hour for the slowly turning restaurant to come full circle.
The Hyatt will conduct a "Remembering Polaris" contest, collecting Milwaukeeans' stories and photos of dining in the city's tallest restaurant. The diner with the most romantic memory will win a one-night stay in a renovated suite, along with dinner for two and tickets to a show. The deadline is April 10, and submissions can be e-mailed to george.herrera@hyatt.com or mailed to the Hyatt at 333 W. Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53203.
As part of the farewell, Polaris will give every diner who mentions the Remembering Polaris contest a free glass of champagne.
The restaurant will remain open daily through April 12.
Vast Remaking of U.S. Economy ??
In the last 5 months alone, I have lost a job and two close friends have lost their jobs as well as a few others I personally know of that have lost their jobs.
These jobs have been in different sectors. Mine was in the hospitality industry, another friend's job was in the Sales and Marketing Business and yet another in the Industrial Sector.
No one is immune and from all of this it seems that the article below speaks of a new way of thinking.
People will need to learn new skills to succeed in the coming economy that is taking shape.
People need to start thinking differently than they have for the past 25 years.
It is a new world and one that is just starting to take shape. Who knows what it will become in the next few years.
I dare to say though that it will be "A Wild Ride".....

Will We Find Another Earth??

NASA has just sent a giant telescope into space to look for other planets similar to "Earth" in the far reaches of the Milkey Way Galaxy.
Will we find life out there?
What will it be like if we do?
Will we be able to communicate with whatever life we do possibly find?
What if we stumble upon something that we really do not want to??
All sorts of questions....
I hope we can find some of the answers.

From the article:
Once it's settled into an Earth-trailing orbit around the sun, Kepler will stare nonstop at 100,000 stars near the Cygnus and Lyra constellations, between 600 and 3,000 light years away.
The telescope will watch for any dimming, or winks, in the stellar brightness that might be caused by orbiting planets.
Astronomers already have found more than 300 planets orbiting other stars, but they're largely inhospitable gas giants like Jupiter. Kepler will be looking for smaller rocky planets akin to Earth.

Kepler is designed to find hundreds of Earth-like planets if they're common and, perhaps, dozens of them in the habitable zone, Borucki said.
The telescope is so powerful that from space, NASA maintains, it could detect someone in a small town turning off a porch light at night.
It won't be looking for signs of life, though. That's for future spacecraft.

Recession or Depression??
All that seems to be on the minds of anyone you talk to (Except for Financial Planners of course) is the deepening financial crisis. The DOW falling below 7000 for the first time since 1997, the economy in Europe starting to "TANK" and companies cutting staff and or closing all over the country. Banks being nationalised, Huge Companies dissapearing overnight.
It just does not stop.....
So...
Are we in a Recession or are we sinking into a Full Fledged "Depression" which with it, comes "STAGFLATION" and other strange downward spiraling phenomonon??
I think it is the later.
Maybe "Obamanomics" will pull us out of this mess.
Or maybe the current administration wil finally usher in the "New World Order" of complete Government Socialism......
Stay tuned.
