A Feel Good Story

With all the bad economic news and the articles on the war and Bush's sagging popularity, I thought it would be nice to highlight a "feel good story" of sorts.

The article below (click on link) talks about a couple who through out the 80s, 90s and early 00s became quite popular around the Milwaukee and Chicago area. The male lead (Mike) impersonated Neil Diamond and his wife (Claire) sang songs by Patsy Cline and ABBA. The due was called "Lightning and Thunder".

Back in the mid 90's when I managed a restaurant in Milwuakee by the airport, the couple would come in for dinner about once a week and more often for coffee a few times a week. (I think they lived in the area) and they were always so nice and interesting to converse with.
I had heard that Mike died a few years back and I often wondered what happened to Claire.
Well at least now I know she is still hanging in there and that finally she has met her idol....

Do NOT support the Auto Maker's Bailout!!

(Above: Andy Palmen, president of Palmen Motors in Kenosha, visited Capitol Hill this week to urge Congress to support $25 billion in loans for domestic automakers. He contended that the ripple effects of automakers’ collapse would go far beyond the production plants.)
All I can say is WA WA Wa....

If the "Big Three" Automakers (and representing them their CEO's) can go to Washington DC in "Multi Million Dollar" corporate jets to BEG for money, then all I can say is THEY DO NOT DESERVE A SINGLE PENNY OF MY TAX PAYER DOLLARS!!!!

This whole thing is beyond the realm of rediculous. It would be like me begging for unemployment compensation and then going out and buying a Mercedes Bennz and putting a downpayment on an ocean front villa.

I hope the people of this nation and those that represent us (our congress) realise this and act accordingly.

What we really need here is money to the consumer to kick start the economy. Another "tax rebate" to each and every person in the amount of thousands of dollars so we can pay off some of our personal debt, give ourselves an "Emergency fund" to cushion ourselves and when it comes down to it....money to eat, pay our bills and live a halfway decent life.

I do not feel sorry for him in the least. Big company exess has been going on for way too long.
It is time for it to stop.....

Deflation??

I do not ever recall hearing that word while studying economics in school. And if the word was covered, I guess I did not pay enough attention.

But in seeing what is going on with the economy in the country right now, the following article explains the word and what it means.

I would say that we ARE in the beginning of a great recession (depression), the likes of what have not been seen since the 1930s.

It has affected me personally as I recently got laid off from a job that I held for 10 years. I am now thick in the search of looking for a new job and let me tell you that things are not easy at all. Some people are looking but many are not and quite a few people are letting their employees go for lack of business.

I sure hope our new government coming into office this coming Jan. can figure out a way to reverse this downward slide and help to boost our economy and all that it entails into a forward movement.

A good article on how to help Main St and Wall St

This article is from Foreign Policy.com

Though I do not often agree with some of the things that their writers talk about, this story has points that make some sense. The article is called "Stop the Bleeding Hank" in reference to Henry Paulson, the head of the treasury of our government:

The End of Free Market Economy...

The financial crisis keeps widening and now it looks like our "Free Market Economy" as we have known it is coming to an end...

What is next?
Governments owning the banks and the ability to control the monetary systems of the world?
Massive oversight of all investments through out the world?
Governments owning not only banks but large companies such as insurance conglomerates?
All of the above and more I say....

This is just the start of what the NWO (New World Order) has proposed and has been working towards for some time now. I didnt think I would honestly see some of these things come to pass in my lifetime but it is all there.
Every day the news has more information on all this happening. Economic and financial history are changing and changing again right before our eyes...sometimes so much that we cant even digest the changes as they are happening.

Read on for the latest (and an interesting quote from the story below as well:

"Krause also said the “era of free markets is over.” “When we’re starting to see the government come in with hundreds of billions of dollars to make loans, buy preferred securities and equity — wow, that is managed capitalism,” he said."
