What Was Happening in the World When I was Born??

My "Crazy World" on the day before this became my "Crazy World".....

So here is a time capsule of sorts from the year 1966.
I found a "Table of Contents" from the Feb. 11, 1966 issue of this magazine and thought it might be a nice way to record a little of what was going on in the world the day before I was born.

Click on some of the links to see where they take you. Some will probably go nowhere and I know that towards the bottom of the contents, there are full story links to click on.

Enjoy.....

And a link to the Magazine archives where anyone can do the same thing:

Rice's Warning Call to Moscow

High Level Threats from "Condi Rice" to Moscow

"You are becoming "Isolated"....

______________________________________________________
A quote from the following story as reported by Time.com:

Rice interrupted her travels Wednesday morning through Indonesia and Australia to place a call to her Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in Moscow.
A State Department official says they discussed how best to take "firm, meaningful action" to rein in Iran, which insists it has the right to enrich uranium for what it says are peaceful purposes.
But another knowledgeable U.S. official goes further, asserting that Rice called Lavrov to voice concern about his government’s continued opposition to a joint U.S.-European plan to have the Security Council call on Iran to suspend its nuclear activities.
The official said that Rice warned Lavrov that Russia was becoming isolated from the rest of the Security Council; she referred, he says, to Tuesday's "informal" gathering of Security Council delegates hosted by the French UN mission.

911-An interesting story from "NY Magazine"

It is so hard to think that 911 was nothing other than an aweful disaster that was perpatrated by Osama Bin Laden and his terrorist network.

But the different theories are out there and in abundance. Just google 911 conspiracy and the information comes rolling down the screen with thousands of sites.

I came across this article earlier this morning and felt it might be worth a read.
And it was, well at least to me.
In about 10 minutes worth of reading, this article brings together some very interesting stories of things that happened on that day, and those stories bring questions that need some answers.

I hope those answers come in my lifetime, as this event is probably the biggest "defining" moment of my generation. And it would be nice to know that my government would not stoop as low as some of the theories are suggesting.

Its Criminal....Another Blogger's view on Bush and Iraq

I came across an another interesting site this morning while doing some searching and I thought I would share it with everyone as well as a blog post by a former U.N. Official.

The website is called "Alternet" and the address is: www.alternet.org

On to Scott's post:
____________________________________________________________________________________
Scott Ritter served as a Chief UN Weapons Inspector in Iraq from 1991 until his resignation in 1998.
He is the author of, most recently:
Iraq Confidential: The Untold Story of the Intelligence Conspiracy to Undermine the UN and Overthrow Saddam Hussein (Nation Books, 2005).

An intro to Scott's Blog post:
As America reaches the third anniversary of President Bush's decision to invade and occupy Iraq, there is for the first time the unsettling realization brought about by the clarity of acts that emerges only after the passage of time that something horrible has happened.

And a few of the paragraphs which I found esp. interesting:
The ancestors of ancient Babylon have become nothing more than "sand niggers", "rag-heads", "camel jockeys", "ninja women" or "haji" in the hearts and minds of American fighting men who are now killing Iraqis in ever increasing numbers.
Gone is any talk of rebuilding Iraq. We are there to destroy it. The criminal nature of the war in Iraq is starting to become common knowledge among observers of the war.
It has long sense been common knowledge on the part of those waging it.

In Vietnam Americans were shocked by the revelations of Mai Lai and the murder of innocent Vietnamese civilians by American fighting men. But Mai Lai is repeated in bits and pieces every day in Iraq, with the American military occupation slaughtering family after family of Iraqis in the name of bringing peace and security.

The realization that something has gone horribly wrong in Iraq, however, has not translated into any kind of discernable action on the part of the American people.
While pundit after pundit breaks ranks with the Bush administration on Iraq, often repudiating their own pre-war chest beating and encouragement of the war, the fact is that the manifesto which manifested itself in the invasion of Iraq -- the 2002 National Security Strategy of the United States -- continues to dictate the manner and nature of America's interfacing with the rest of the world in unquestioned fashion.

Indeed, President Bush has, on the eve of the third anniversary of the Iraqi war, promulgated a new, improved version of this manifesto, the 2006 National Security Strategy of the United States, which re-affirms America's commitment to the principles of pre-emptive war.

In short, the President has re-certified America as the greatest threat to international peace and security in modern times, especially when one considers that even as America is engaged in the brutal rape and occupation of Iraq, President Bush has his eyes firmly set on another war of aggression in Iran.

A Good Tuesday Morning to All.

A Tale of a Political Prisoner with Ties to our Top Governmet Officials and a Bad Bad Federal Judge

An interesting story I just uncovered.I will leave it to the readers to make their own opinions about things after they have read everything here that I have to offer.

So...A few lines from the story and then a link to the complete missives in two parts:

"If the truth ever is fully known about the strange case of Dr. Francesco Pazienza, the lid should be finally blown sky-high off the White House, blowing a hole so deep and wide that every President since Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan will be nabbed for treasonous high crimes against humanity and the civilized world."

And according to observers in Italy when the dust finally settles, the reason why Pazienza is being held as "a political prisoner" should finally put the finishing touches on despicable men like Michael Ledeen, Karl Rove and President George W. Bush, to name a few.

Although Pazienza claims he doesn't know much, the powers that be think otherwise, keeping him locked away for more than 20 years in a jail in Livorno, Italy.

And according to his last written communication one month ago, as he is prohibited from speaking on the phone or having visitors other than his immediate family, he is being held under maximum security conditions in solitary confinement.

Concerning his legal troubles, it doesn't take a legal scholar to understand what happened to Pazienza, even though the many charges and cases filed against him in the U.S., Rome and Bologna have left the truth confused and smothered under thousands of pages of legal mumbo jumbo, most of the pages obviously an orchestrated smokescreen to protect the guilty parties.

And in layman's lingo, after sifting through the legal minutia, what happened to the Italian insider working for his Washington and Vatican masters is simple.

Pazienza in the mid 1970's was first hired by Ledeen, who now is one of the diabolical brains behind Rove and Bush, as a covert Italian operative. Although Pazienza denies the allegations, Italian authorities and court records suggest he provided inside information on the infamous "Billygate Scandal," for the GOP, a scandal involving President Jimmy Carter's brother and Libya, in order to insure Ronald Reagan and George H. Bush a clear path to the White House.

A brief overview of the federal judge (Stephen Trott) talked about in the article:
http://www.fjc.gov/servlet/tGetInfo?jid=2416

(An interesting side note to this guy...He was one of the members of a singing group back in the 60s called the "Highway Men" who's most popular song was "Michael row the boat ashore". How funny is that? And now he is a corrupt and evil federal judge).

And a link below-to a speech he made recently (2005 possibly) and which frankly gives me the willies as I was reading it.
This guy is a "megalomaniac". There are no other words to describe him in my opinion. If you want a look at "pure evil" then I advise you to read the speech that is outlined in this link, in it's entirety.

One of his quotes from this speech which talked about civil liberties absolutely frightened me:
"To what extent, and for how long, do we have to recalibrate our notion of our civil liberties? Prevention requires law enforcement and intelligence agencies to gather information about people: what they are saying, with whom they are associating, what they are reading and writing, what they believe and what they have in their residences."

And another quote where he talks about the need to physically torture people in certain circumstances. This one really gave me the "eebie jeebies":
An application for a torture warrant would have to be based on an absolute need to obtain immediate information in order to save lives, coupled with probable cause that the suspect had such information and is unwilling to reveal it. The suspect would be given immunity from prosecution based on information elicited by the torturer. The warrant would limit the torture to non-lethal means such as sterile needles stuck under his fingernails, inserted to cause excruciating pain without endangering life." Some people think this sounds wacky. If you were the head of the FBI, it might not sound wacky to you in a worst-case scenario.

The Real ID Act hands the Department of Homeland Security the power to set these standards

(A photo of a test version of a National I.D. card used with foreign visitors to our Kingdom)

The "Real I.D." or "The Mark of the Beast"???

And they DID say the future was going to be interesting.
Let the Wild Ride begin....

Some interesting facets of the upcoming "Federal Identification Card."
Suffice to say that without the card, one will not be able to
  1. Drive a car
  2. Board a train , plane or bus
  3. Enter any federal building
  4. Hold a job
  5. Open a bank account

What are some of the "Goodies" involved with this new I.D.??
Glad you asked....

Who will be in charge of issuing these cards and the information gathering that will be included on them?
The Real ID Act hands the Department of Homeland Security the power to set these standards and determine whether state drivers' licenses and other ID cards pass muster. Only ID cards approved by Homeland Security can be accepted "for any official purpose" by the feds.

What's going to be stored on this ID card?
At a minimum: name, birth date, sex, ID number, a digital photograph, address, and a "common machine-readable technology" that Homeland Security will decide on.
The card must also sport "physical security features designed to prevent tampering, counterfeiting, or duplication of the document for fraudulent purposes."

(Homeland Security is permitted to add additional requirements--such as a fingerprint or retinal scan--on top of those. We won't know for a while what these additional requirements will be.)

How will you get one of these cards?
You'll still get one through your state motor vehicle agency, and it will likely take the place of your drivers' license. But the identification process will be more rigorous.
For instance, you'll need to bring a "photo identity document," document your birth date and address, and show that your Social Security number is what you had claimed it to be. U.S. citizens will have to prove that status, and foreigners will have to show a valid visa.
State DMVs will have to verify that these identity documents are legitimate, digitize them and store them permanently. In addition, Social Security numbers must be verified with the Social Security Administration.

What does it mean for the U.S. Citizen?
Starting three years from now in 2008, if you live or work in the United States, you'll need a federally approved ID card to travel on an airplane, open a bank account, collect Social Security payments, or take advantage of nearly any government service.
Practically speaking, your driver's license likely will have to be reissued to meet federal standards.

How will the Cards be read and will the information be stored digitally?
The Real ID Act says federally accepted ID cards must be "machine readable," and lets Homeland Security determine the details. That could end up being a magnetic strip, enhanced bar code, or radio frequency identification (RFID) chips.
In the past, Homeland Security has indicated it likes the concept of RFID chips. The State Department is already going to be embedding RFID devices in passports, and Homeland Security wants to issue RFID-outfitted IDs to foreign visitors who enter the country at the Mexican and Canadian borders. The agency plans to start a yearlong test of the technology in July at checkpoints in Arizona, New York and Washington state.

Is it really a National I.D Card?
It depends on whom you ask. Barry Steinhardt, director of the American Civil Liberties Union's technology and liberty program, says: "It's going to result in everyone, from the 7-Eleven store to the bank and airlines, demanding to see the ID card. They're going to scan it in. They're going to have all the data on it from the front of the card...It's going to be not just a national ID card but a national database."
At the moment, state driver's licenses aren't easy for bars, banks, airlines and so on to swipe through card readers because they're not uniform; some may have barcodes but no magnetic stripes, for instance, and some may lack both. Steinhardt predicts the federalized IDs will be a gold mine for government agencies and marketers.
(Also, he notes that the Supreme Court ruled last year that police can demand to see ID from law-abiding U.S. citizens.)

When does this all take effect?
The Real ID Act takes effect "three years after the date of the enactment" of the legislation. So if the Senate and Bush give it the thumbs-up this month, its effective date would be sometime in May 2008.

The link below takes you to the original idea for the i.d. card that ultimately became "The Real ID act of 2005":

Welcome to the 21st Century folks!

Bush the Incompetent...

And people are JUST starting to realize this???

There are days when I hope I am wrong about this guy because I really would like to believe some of what he says.

Is there evil in the world?
I believe there is.
Is Bush one of those that are evil?
Only time will tell.
But I do have a gut feeling that he is not as "godly" as he professes to be.

I thought the caption to the left seemed apporpriate for this post.

Bush the "Incompetent"

The polls are bad enough. Now the President fails a word-assocation test
By MATTHEW COOPER
Over the last seven years, the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press has played a game of word association as part of its regular presidential polling, asking, "What one word best describes your impression of George W. Bush?" No options or suggestions are offered.

The latest results — from a sample of 710 people done in March — aren't good for the President.
Until this month, the word most associated with President Bush had always been "honest."

Now the leading answer is "incompetent" (given by 29 people), followed by "good," "idiot" and "liar." "Honest" has slipped to 5th, tied with "Christian."

Three years ago, positive descriptions of Bush far outnumbered negative ones. In the past two years, the positive-negative ratio has been more nearly equal.

This time, 48% of those polled used a negative word to describe Bush; just 28% picked a positive term; 10% chose neutral language. Six respondents chose a word that everyone could agree on: "President."
