300 Million-Wow!

The USA has officially hit the 300 million mark this morning in population!!

I do not quite know how that number was drawn upon on this day but if true, that is a heck of a lot of people inhabiting this nation.

So, if I were to take myself out of the picture so to speak, the current population would then be 299,999 million??
It wouldn't stay that way for long though according to the news ditty I just viewed on tv....it sems a new baby will be born in the next 30 seconds and shortly after that someone else will die....evening out the "score" so to speak.

I wonder what the population of the world right now is?
I am sure there is a website out there that will tell me.

Fall is in the Air...

It is one of the most wonderful times of the year right now here in South Eastern Wisconsin. As I wake up this morning, I can feel fall is really in the air.

Though it is cloudy and the air is full of rain coming, the colors of the trees are beginning to reach their full bloom and I think we are only a week or so away from full fall colors.
What a time to get out and walk by our great lake or take a brisk bike ride through our many scenic bike trails that meander through our city.

Also lots of things going on such as rides through pumpkin patches and if one takes a drive a bit west from Racine they will encounter roadside stands with pumpkins and squash and other fall veggies.

There is also a nice little diversion out on Hwy 83 just after Waterford that has hey bales in the shapes of pumpkins and spiders and there are so many pumpkins to choose from one would have to grab at least one...which I plan to do sometime this week. I myself plan on taking a nice fall drive this thursday and plan on taking my digital camera to capture some of the amazing "eye candy" that nature has seen fit to give us during this time of year.

There is also an exciting "Film Festival" coming to Racine this weekend.
"It came from Lake Michigan" is to be the midwest's premier film festival concentrating on the horror film genre and most of the films I have been told are created by independent filmmakers from throughout the country.

It is being held at Festival Hall this weekend starting on friday and going through sunday.
One of my close friends, Jason Collum, who has produced horror films and authored a book on B-Horror actors will be at this event as well as other "biggies" of the horror genre (see links below).

A sure bet for a nice weekend along with a walk or bike ride or drive to see some out wonderous trees changing their colors.

Also this weekend coming up will be the official dedication for the completion of the stairway and bike path that runs along the east side of the Racine Zoo.

Cat starts fire and then Dog rescues owner...

Those darn cats!!

Below is a sampling of news from around Wisconsin.
The first little ditty is one that caught my eye being that I am a cat owner.
The cat knocked a candle onto a chair which started a fire and then the dog who had been trained by it's owner to do cool things....grabbed the phone for it's owner to call 911.

I wonder what the dog would have done if the cat had pissed all over the dog's favorite chew toy???

Fall is in full bloom here in Southeastern Wisconsin and the weather is crisp and full of color (as are the trees).
It seems the cold that we had last week only lasted a few days and now we are in full fall mode with 40s and 50s and cloudy days and sunny days...today being one of those cloudy and rainy mondays such as the one Karen Carpenter sang about in her song "Rainy Days and Mondays".....but hey these days do not "Get me down"...
In fact I find mornings like these to be invigorating and I am getting ready to take a run and then get ready to begin my week.

Back from a summer respsite...well kind of`

Fall is here and with fall comes the leaves coming off the trees and crisp cool evenings and chilly mornings.
It is also time to take the AC units out of the windows and to change over the summer bed linens to the comfy winter ones such as the flannel sheets I just bought.

A time of cleanising and refreshing and time to get ready for the holiday season that is about to overtake us all.

And with this change of the seasons also comes kids being stupid and more kids (and some adults) being even more stupid....such as this 18 year old that hails from my city that I live in.

U.S. Government accused of blocking hurricane report

It seems that there is more to the "Global Warming" phenomenon that is being reported (or not being reported) by our government these days.

The strength and frequency of severe storms and hurricanes and all the other strange weather that has been happening in the last few years seems to corralate to some very interesting scientific data that the government scientists have uncovered in the last few years.

I think our government needs to be honest with its citizens and help us all prepare for what the world may be going through in the future.......and what is happening right now.

Air travel to become easier....a day after my vacation...figures!`

This little snippet is interesting.

Having had just returned from a vacation where I traveled via an aircraft, I think that relaxing these restrictions so people can bring liquids of sorts and some stuff on their carry on bags...is a good thing.
What I would have done for my cup of Starbucks while lifting off from the runway!!

You all "Come on Back you Hear"...5 more days till Texas Vacation

So it has been a busy summer and fall is almost here.

What a way to start the fall season...it has been raining pretty much since labor day and my tan is fading fast.
Well...maybe I can get some color back this next week while I am in Texas.

Yes I am heading south for a much needed vacation this next monday morning.
A friend and I will be staying on the Gulf Coast starting in Houston and making our way down the gulf eventually getting to the southern most point in the U.S. and then we will take a jaunt across the boarder into Mexico!

I can not wait. A week of sun and sand and fun.

Not too much else to write about. The news as it has been happening has been rather non exciting though my personal summer has been good.
Now that the weather is starting to turn I will probably start blogging more and there is always the Bush bashing to keep on....so all in all life is good.
