Roswell New Mexico 1947 Meets John the Uber Driver

 Roswell New Mexico 1947

It was just outside of this small New Mexico town that a supposed alien craft crashed on desolate ranch lands in 1947. Some said at the time it was a UFO from another world. Even the newspapers of that day said so. The military claimed it was a weather balloon that crashed on those New Mexico ranch lands.

Since I was a young teen I have been interested in this event and have read many stories and books on the subject. In 2003 I took a road trip from my home in Wisconsin and stopped in Roswell on my travels of the western states. I visited the famous UFO museum in town and traveled the countryside of Roswell looking for the ranches.

I did not have any luck finding the ranches......that is until today!

Read on.....

I picked up some passengers on my UBER shift tonight and as we were discussing where they were from and where they might be going, they mentioned that they lived outside of Corona New Mexico. I remember that name from my trip to New Mexico in 2003. The town was just down the road from Roswell. I mentioned my trip and my quest to find some of the locations from the 1947 crash.....

At that instant, the lady in the front seat of my car (Lauren) said "well just to let you know...we own one of the ranches where pieces of the craft were found 70 some years ago!!"

Ensued a very interesting conversation about how this woman's great grandfather bought the ranch in 1952 that was one of the ranch lands in Corona upon which parts of the "craft" were found..

As a teenager, her and her sister decided to "profit" off of the incident and with the help of their mother who had inherited the ranch, the girls began putting soil from one of the "crash sites" into mason canning jars and selling them to the public. In 2018 she and her sister decided to start tours of the ranch, showing people the "supposed sites" that some of the crash material was found on. They even let people bring in metal detectors to try to find some of the material from the crash.

The young lady who scooped up that dirt as a teenager is now living in Fort Worth and owns an advertising agency. Her mother still lives outside Roswell NM and loves telling the story of how she and her family are connected to that 1947 incident.

And while stopping to drop her off, she went inside and brought out a T-Shirt for me from her years acting as a tour guide of the ranch.

The Shirt says:

OTVS 1947 UFO Crash Tour

I decided to do some digging to see if I could find any information on the story above that I was told this evening. After an hour or so of digging, I hit paydirt:

The Roswell UFO Crash Site

And then of course I had to dig a bit more to see if there really was a "real world"
explanation for all of the 1947 stuff that happened...and the story at the following link probably offers the best explanation I have read on the events of 1947 in Roswell New Mexico.

What really happened in Roswell??

Life is so interesting!
