The democrats have spoken and their mouth piece is impressive to say the least.
I will hedge my bets right now to say that I think this man will be leading our nation after Jan of 2009 for the next 8 years.

McCain picks Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as running mate

I am thinking that a reletive unknown plus the fact that she is a woman will be the un-doing of the republican presidential ticket for Mr. McCain.

I could be wrong but at this juncture in where the world is at, I would have figured that McCain would have picked someone who has ALOT of foriegn diplomatic experience...esp. with all that the current administration is dealing with around the world.

On the other hand, I believe my little "Black Guy" has the proper focus with Biden as his running mate. I really believe that this team can help bring this country out of it's recession (What recession!!) and help settle some of the quabbles that are happening through out the world right now.

Another Katrina heading towards the Big Easy??

And almost exactly at the same time of the year as the disaster roared ashore in 2005...

It seems that Hurricane (Tropical Storm sometimes) Gustav is making it's way towards New Orleans and could hit landfull somewhere in the Gulf Coast Region by Labor Day.
I hope the city and state officials are smarter this time and if this storm does come ashore, I hope FEMA is prepared to handle things better this time than last time.
Well...lets hope.

A New Cold War? The Start of WW3??

After reading the article below I feel for sure that the conflict taking place in the country of Georgia which borders Russia will turn into the Next Cold War of this planet. Even more so, I am of the inclination that the way things are headed, we could very well be in the initial stages of the next World War.

And if that is to happen, will it be the last World War that takes place on this planet??
Will this spell the end of earth as so many have prophesised time and again??

I for one am really starting to get scared.
A long time ago I heard a saying that went something like "When a civilization gets to a certain point with technology, population, science and other things because of it's great age it tends to self implode and cease to exist because of these things".
Are we at that point?
I do not think we are just yet....but I do feel we are on the cusp of it.
This latest incident in Eastern Europe and Russia is a "harbrigner" of sorts if you ask me, for what is surly to come.

The Government Close to Reading Minds?

Another ominous sign of "1984"....

US military researchers are trying to figure out how to read your mind. Will this some day replace water boarding as an interrogation technique?

Researchers have a $4 million grant which they will use to try to learn how to read brain signals, through electrodes placed on the scalp. They may even reach the point where a computer could "speak" the thoughts of the person being questioned.

But research is still in the initial stages.
CNN quotes researcher Michael D’Zmura as saying, "To have a person think in a free manner and then figure out what that is, we're years away from that."

There may also be the problem of the enemy "thinking" lies, which could be even easier than trying to fool a conventional lie detector.

Hmmm......

Gay Marriage Cards in your local Store Aisle

It is finally happening....at least in your local stores that sell greeting cards. (The photo above is not exactly a greeting card....but it conveys the same message hopefully).

Cards to celebrate gay marriage for those who choose to take their vows as wedded couples, even though in most states the above is not even legal.
