Lift Off-Finally!!

Well it seems that the Space Shuttle "Discovery" has finally lifted off into space.
Two and 1/2 years after my broken ankle (I was in the hospital as the other doomed shuttle with Laurel Clark on it came down..burning up into the atmosphere. I was watching the reentry on tv and saw the whole thing as it was happening...was pretty eerie to say the least) the first shuttle since that fateful day has once again headed towards the ISS (International Space Station).
I hope this space mission is the start of greater "space related" things for us. We really do need to get out there and explore. That is what humans do...explore.
Warm Regards for a good tuesday.

An Upclose Taste of Reality TV?

So a Hollywood production company (Rocket Science Labs)...which produces "Joe Millionare" and "Trading Spouses"
http://www.fox.com/tradingspouses/
........among other reality crap shows, is currently staying at the hotel that I work at. They are filming an episode of "Trading Spouses" in the Racine Area. I have often wondered what exactly these strange (but nice) folks do all day and night....
....Well, if its anything like the following story I just came across , I sure hope the family they are filming in Racine, fares a bit better. I cant wait to show some of the production crew at the hotel (they sit in my lounge getting "soused" on a nightly basis) this story! (click on link below story for more).....
Family suing reality TV show over repairs
By Rob OlmsteadDaily Herald Staff WriterPosted Thursday, July 21, 2005
When a reality-show television producer says “Trust me,” run.
That’s the lesson Gary and Sharon Rosier of Lemont Township say they learned when Fox Broadcasting’s “Renovate My Family” promised them a new and improved home designed to accommodate their recently paralyzed son, Steven.
Instead of a handicapped-friendly home that made their life easier, they got a shoddy wreck of a house that latest estimates say will cost $350,000 to fix, the Rosiers’ attorney, Mark Belongia, said.
“Essentially what they did is build a movie set,” Belongia said.

A Scary Thought....
I have decided to post this article in its entirety as I think it speaks for itself:
U.S. Terror Attack — 'Ninety Days at Most'
Wednesday, July 13, 2005
Counterterrorism expert Juval Aviv spoke with FOX Fan Central about what Americans can do to protect themselves in case of a terror attack.Do you believe another terrorist attack is likely on American soil?I predict, based primarily on information that is floating in Europe and the Middle East, that an event is imminent and around the corner here in the United States. It could happen as soon as tomorrow, or it could happen in the next few months. Ninety days at the most.
What advice do you have for individuals that have the misfortune of finding themselves in the middle of a terror attack?Since mass transportation is the next attack, when you travel to work have with you, a bottle of water, a small towel and a flashlight. What happened in London is exactly a point to look at. Those people who were close to the bombs died, then others were injured or died from inhaling the toxic fumes or getting trampled. The reason you take a bottle of water and a towel is that if you wet the towel and put it over your face, you can protect yourself against the fumes and get yourself out of there.
Don't be bashful. If your gut feeling tells you when you walk onto a bus there is something unusual or suspicious, get out and walk away. You may do it 10 times for no reason, but there will be one time that saves your life. Let your sixth sense direct you.
Try to break your routine. If you travel during rush hour every day, try to get up a little earlier and drive to work or take the train when it’s still not full. Don’t find yourself every day in the midst of rush hour. Terrorists are not going to waste a bomb on a half-empty train. What portion of the American infrastructure do you believe is at the greatest risk for a terror attack?
We have put all of our emphasis, right or wrong, on the aviation area. What has happened, in the last two to three years, based on information we have, is the terrorists have realized that they cannot hijack a plane in America soon because the passengers are going to fight back. So they realize what they have been very successful with over the last 50 years in Madrid, London, Iraq, Israel: demoralizing the public when they go to work and when they come back from work.
What they’re going to do is hit six, seven or eight cities simultaneously to show sophistication and really hit the public. This time, which is the message of the day, it will not only be big cities. They’re going to try to hit rural America. They want to send a message to rural America: "You’re not protected. If you figured out that if you just move out of New York and move to Montana or to Pittsburgh, you’re not immune. We’re going [to] get you wherever we can and it’s easier there than in New York."What more do you think the government can do to protect the public?
Number one, and this is the beef I’ve had with Homeland Security for the last four years, is educating the public on how to deal with those types of events. There’s no education. We’re raising the color code alert and that means nothing to anyone. Whether it’s green, yellow, pink, no one ever educated the public how to identify suspicious items or people. In Israel, so many of them [terrorists] have been apprehended just because people have phoned in. We don’t have that training on campuses, schools or kindergarten.
In Israel, it’s very popular right now [amongst terrorists] to put one device to explode and time another one for five minutes later when it’s all calm, people are getting up and the rescue teams have responded. You need to know all those things and think about those things. The government must pursue that. Law enforcement will never have enough people on the street to detect things. We don’t have that kind of manpower. That’s why the government must enlist the public.

A good idea?? I don't think so....
So there is this article in the Sunday edition of the "Milwaukee Journal Sentinel" about the idea of giving family members of people, killed in Iraq, massive breaks on everything from college tuition to not having to pay house taxes (click on link below for full story)......
http://www.jsonline.com/news/state/jul05/341608.asp
....well, some of my friends and family may disagree with me (disagreeing can be healthy too...) but I personally feel that a family of an "ALL VOLUNTEER" armed forces should not be given these "perks". As they say..shit happens and people die for many reasons and many causes (my mom passed away a few years ago from cancer and diabetes complications),
so for a certian fragment of our population to be eligble for certian special treatment just because one of their loved ones has been killed or has died...(I didn't ASK them to go over there to fight for my gas and oil)...... to me is unacceptable. My tax dollars will NOT go to fund kids going to college for free (I couldnt afford college and I didnt get a free ride) or wife's being able to live in their 100,000 Dollar houses without worry.....
I say to these families......suck it up, get a job, work hard, do for yourself what you can and dont depend on the government for handouts because that is exactly what this is...there are no two ways about it!! Things like this are why this world is so screwed up.
Oh and I just have to add the "Support our Troops bumper sticker" thing. What in the heck is that all about?? Our troops are paid for the job they do, they have all went into their jobs willingly....what is the support thing all about?? How about a "Support our Restaurant Managers" bumper sticker. I am on the front lines every day...fighting wars of my own. Please support me!!!!!!
Those are my rants for today.

Dogs first then Humans-Life after Death-Freeze me!!

The story (click on link for more in depth) below sure seems prettty interesting. Science fiction is steadily moving in to the realm of Science Fact.....
Dogs Dead For Hours Returned to Life
US scientists researching hibernation have rendered dogs clinically dead by replacing their blood with freezing cold saline solution, then returned them to life three hours later by returning their blood to their veins and shocking their hearts back to a normal beat.

Terrorism or Planned (NWO) Psycological Terror??

I have said this before and I will say it again.
I FIRMLY beleive that the latest "terrorist attack" on London England......
http://customwire.ap.org/dynamic/stories/B/BRITAIN_EXPLOSION?SITE=WIMIL&SECTION=INTERNATIONAL&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2005-07-08-01-36-42
.....that happened yesterday morning, is just another "New World Order" PLANNED attack meant to scare us into giving up the remaining freedoms we have left. Is it a coincidence that all this happened on the same day as the "G8 Summit" going on in Scottland??? With all the "important world leaders" being close by?
So now the USA (and probably the rest of the world) is on an elevated terror alert. Before you know it, one wont be able to walk down the street, without having an I.D. to prove who they are or worse yet, we are all going to be expected to submit to "chip implantation"......ikes!! The CNN news is actually talking about this right now......making everyone carry identification cards with photo and medical info (to make identification easier in the case of accidents??) or risk breaking the law! How gruesome that we are really at that stage in our eveloution where almost all of our privacy is gone. Look around you.....and think.
Just to keep everyone thinking, here is a related story....hmmmm....
Come on in, how about a tour
"One of the London suicide bombers was allowed to tour the Houses of Parliament as the guest of an MP months after police and intelligence services became aware of his links to another alleged bomb plot, it emerged last night. Mohammad Sidique Khan, 30, was a guest of the Labour MP Jon Trickett in July 2004, four months after he had been identified by intelligence officials as a "criminal associate" of one of the subjects of a major counter-terrorism operation that had resulted in several arrests."

Happy 4th of July
It has been a few weeks since I have posted anything....life has been rather boring to say the least. And the boring streak continues this holiday weekend.......
....I am sitting outside on my front steps, enjoying the evening, playing on the laptop (wireless is so cool) and watching the "lightning bugs" scurry across the front lawns of my peacefull and quiet (except for the fireworks now and then)evening.
Racine is just about to shoot off their fireworks down on the lakefront, and I was going to join some friends down there...but I decided to just sit here on my steps hoping to see some in the distance and enjoy the peace and quiet of my neighborhood and my little sanctuary I call home.
I have the weekend off and am revealing in just relaxing. Last night was a jaunt to a local pizzeria with some friends and then reading a book and today was a late sleep in day....though not planned: I was going to meet some friends downtown for the annual parade but I overslept and didnt get up till well after 2pm.
I decided to take a drive over to the party place where everyone was gathered...but my friend Doris wasnt there anymore. I hung around for a bit and had a brat and some potato salad and then decided to head over to the Barns and Noble bookstore for some Starbucks but it was CLOSED!! How dare they close early! I was so dissapointed.
Oh well...what to do. So I picked up some movies, grabbed my phones and my laptop and am now sitting out here and hopefully will be able to see some fireworks in the distance in the next few minutes as it is a bit after 9pm and almost time for the "Racine Big Bang". I have off again on tuesday and if I can get up early enough....may just take a drive up to see my parents for the day.....
Hope everyone had a happy 4th of July.
